A Course in Miracles - It is what it is

Have you ever heard the expression "it is what it is"? What exactly does that expression mean?

Before understanding the deeper meaning of this expression, I imagined a emaciated yogi guru in the lotus position floating above the ground imperiously imparting wisdom that would take scholars several lifetimes to interpret. Seeing that this is my last life on earth and that the lotus position would set me in motion, I knew that consulting the Course in Miracles would help me clarify its meaning.

What is the IT we are writing about here? According to the Course in Miracles, it IS the truth, specifically God's truth. Why is it important to emphasize that it is God's truth? a course in miracles Because God's truth is not open to interpretation, while human truth is. Multiple versions of human truth have given rise to myriad religions. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia defines religion as a "system of thought, feeling, and action that is shared by a group and that gives members an object of devotion."

Who devised the system of thought? Whose feelings are these thoughts based on? Are the actions really necessary? According to the Course in Miracles, God simply is and our ultimate goal is to return to a perfect state of being. There is no thought or action in the state of being, you simply are. What we must not forget is the common thread of all religions: God is creator, God is love and we are all perfect and infinite children of God.

Put another way, "it is what it is" can be rewritten as "God's love is the only truth and is absolute" and this truth is limitless and timeless.
