Vitamins, why do we need them?
Vitamins are low-molecular organic compounds with high biological activity. They act as catalysts for metabolism, promote the synthesis of hormones, the breakdown of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, provide nerve conductivity, etc.
Traditionally, vitamins are divided into two types:
fat-soluble (A, D, E, F, K)
tend to accumulate in the body and have a toxic effect if consumed in excess;
water-soluble (B, C)
the excess of which is excreted from the body in urine.
The main source of vitamins is food and ready-made vitamin complexes, since the body cannot synthesize them on its own. The exception is nicotinic acid.
Lack of vitamins
Vitamin deficiency can lead to very serious consequences, causing serious diseases of the eyes, nervous system, liver, skin lesions, rickets, anemia, capillary fragility, etc.
Early signs of vitamin deficiency include:
drowsiness,
lethargy,
dry or flaky skin,
decreased vision,
decreased concentration,
increased irritability,
deterioration of mood and well-being,
frequent colds (decreased immunity).
The reason for the deficiency is an unbalanced diet and the inability to consume the required amount of food that meets the requirements for vitamins.
It should be noted that people involved in fitness are among those who especially need vitamins. They allow better adaptation to training and achieve better results due to their ability to reduce oxidation processes in the body.
Antioxidant properties, the ability to boost immunity and support musculoskeletal function make vitamins indispensable assistants for people living in a fitness style and caring about the health of their bodies.
