I'm not really a traditional bride, and I have my heart set on wearing a prom dresses. I'd like to find something knee-length having a '50s- or '60s-style silhouette, but I'm not having any luck.

I'm also not receiving all the support I'd wished for. My parents, friends, and fiance all agree it might be weird that i can wear a conventional long white dress. They want me to put on what makes me happy.

My sister, however, who's my bridesmaid, flat-out said I would look stupid inside a bright yellow dress the ones would laugh at me. She's also butting heads using the other bridesmaids, my buddies, who she's wiped off as "weirdos."

Assuming I can even look for a yellow wedding gown, how do I cope with my sister's attitude? And is wearing a bright yellow wedding gown weird?

Here are my thoughts:

Do guess what happens would be weird? Wearing a wedding gown that didn't seem like "you" since you were concerned about your sister or perhaps your guests Tsk, tsk-ing behind your back.

You should spend your wedding reception surrounded through the people who adore you and know you should, and I hope that the nearest and dearest is going to be happy to be there even though you show up inside a potato sack.

It sucks that the sister has been a bitch, but my sister and I access it like balloons and porcupines, so I have that you can still love her, even though you don't see eye-to-eye on style. Still, it's super-rude of her to choose on you, so I'd possess a comeback ready next time she pushes your buttons.

While I was wedding ceremony planning, here's how I handled my in-laws, who were built with a different "vision" for the wedding:

__Kim:__We're likely to do long tables in the reception.

__Father from the groom:__LONG tables? You can't have long tables in a reception!

__Kim:__What shape tables have you choose for the wedding?

__Father from the groom:__Round!

__Kim:__And had you been happy with your decision?

__Father from the groom:__Of course! Round tables are the most useful!

__Kim:__Well, now it's our wedding and our use choose. We'd like long tables, and we'd be thankful if you'd respect our decision.

*This was a real conversation, incidentally. And Rory's dad am offended through the idea of long tables that people wound up mixing round and long tables so he wouldn't need to sit in a long table. For reals.*I know this sounds just a little rude, but you need to fight fire with fire and rude with rude, for me.

Plus, as I tell every couple, you're never likely to make everyone happy, so you may as well attempt to make yourselves happy!

Now, to the happy news!

If you need to do decide to put on a bright yellow wedding gown—and I think you need to!—I think you will find tons of great options! I wouldn't bother likely to a mall, in which the bright yellow dresses is going to be few and far between. (Plus, should you shop for a prom dresses near me, you'll risk your guests turning up in your "wedding" dress!) Instead, I'd consider fitting a bunch of bridesmiad gowns, that can come in every single color along with a bazillion shapes.
